Tucked away in the heart of Old Delhi’s maze-like streets, Haveli Dharampura is a 200-year-old mansion that was lovingly restored over six years.
Recognised by UNESCO for cultural heritage conservation, it’s the city’s only true luxury heritage hotel: where Mughal architecture, graceful courtyards, and intricate jharokhas create a sense of timeless calm amid the bustle of Chandni Chowk.
With just a few elegant rooms, Dharampura feels intimate and characterful. Guests often describe it as “like staying in a riad in Marrakech” — serene, atmospheric, and beautifully detailed.
The haveli’s restaurant serves refined versions of classic Old Delhi dishes, and it’s well worth booking a dinner or rooftop experience even if you’re not staying overnight.
Guests can sit down for lunch, dinner, high tea or sundowners on the terrace, with the 5–7pm slot particularly magical as the city glows below and the call to prayer drifts through the air.
Nearby, the Golden Haveli, a 150-year-old sister property just four doors down, offers a slightly more contemporary take while preserving traditional charm. It features 12 rooms (seven of them twins) and shares the same heritage feel. Though it doesn’t yet have its own restaurant, guests dine at Dharampura; a bar is set to open soon, adding another layer to the experience.
Both havelis stand as inspiring examples of thoughtful restoration: proof that Old Delhi’s architectural and cultural heritage can be preserved with style and purpose.
The Rooms
There are just 14 king rooms at Haveli Dharampura, each is unique, thoughtfully restored, and comes with modern comforts.
The Jharoka Rooms are cosy and open onto the courtyard. The Diwan-e-Khas Rooms offer more space and detail like jali windows.
For something even more special, go for one of the Shahjahan Suites with antique furnishings, and, in some cases, private balconies.
