Zoe’s always been the organiser, the booker, the explorer in her circle, so putting those instincts to good use in the travel world felt like a bit of a no-brainer.
After a stint in Sydney, enjoying life down under for all the obvious reasons (sunshine, nature and animals; yep, even the scary ones), Zoe took off on a big adventure around Asia. Somewhere between whizzy tuk tuk rides in Thailand and the sensational snorkelling in Indonesia, she had a lightbulb moment: hang on… why not help other people experience this for a living?
At Experience Travel Group, Zoe started out in our Concierge team, helping ETG travellers with their queries and taking care of the behind-the-scenes details so the Travel Team could focus on injecting creativity into each trip. She’s now a consultant herself, designing private journeys to Sri Lanka and India.
Zoe’s no stranger to a good travel story. Ask her about the (questionable) game of chess she played with a man on a Bangkok side street, or the time she went kayaking in Sri Lanka, convinced she kept spotting crocodiles (they were innocent lily pads).
She loved seeing a leopard yawn and stretch in Yala, but it was the birds that turned her into a full-on birder: paradise flycatchers, kingfishers, and eagles . Zoe kept a bird log throughout Rajasthan, too; recording her highest count at RAAS Chhatrasagar.
India won her over through its people. Mention the early-morning market walk in Jaipur and she’ll start smiling about Dave, the guide who took them from the flower stalls to the milk stalls, where they got chatting with the milkmen.
After a fun day out, she believes your hotel should be somewhere you’re genuinely excited to return to, preferably with a great bar downstairs. That’s why she’s just as picky about where you sleep as she is about what you do.
