A 3 or 4-day adventure to Sapulot and Batu Punggul is well worth the effort but necessitates staying in some relatively basic accommodation. The accommodation you’ll encounter along the way includes a night in a mosquito-netted stretcher hammock, a comfortable wooden hut and a modern longhouse with mattresses on the floor. But all of this is part of a 5-star experience that is accompanied by excellent hospitality from the local Murat people. The food is tasty and the family is excellent at taking care of visitors. All in all a great experience but not for those requiring luxury accommodation.
