Raffles Hotel Le Royal
Old-world charm,
Local landmark
Couples,
Families
Phnom Penh’s grand dame has been welcoming guests since 1929, and she wears her history beautifully.
Raffles Hotel Le Royal is one of the city’s great landmarks, a graceful blend of French colonial and Khmer architecture right in the centre of Phnom Penh. After a careful restoration, it reopened under Raffles in 1997 and has been setting the standard in the capital ever since.
It’s the kind of place where old-world glamour and modern comfort sit side by side, and where the stories in the walls are half the fun.
Few hotels manage to marry heritage and modern luxury as smoothly as this one.
Elegant interiors, landscaped gardens and first-rate service give it a timeless, unhurried feel, even in the middle of a busy city. There are two swimming pools, perfect for cooling off after a morning at the markets or the Royal Palace, and the Amrita Spa offers treatments inspired by traditions from around the world.
Dining and drinking are real highlights. Café Monivong and Restaurant Le Royal are two of the most atmospheric places to eat in Phnom Penh, and no stay is complete without a cocktail in the legendary Elephant Bar.
All in all, this is a wonderful base for exploring the capital in style.
The Rooms
There are 170 rooms, suites and apartments spread across two wings.
They’re sumptuously furnished in art deco style and vary a good deal in size, but the quality is consistent throughout, from the Landmark Rooms right up to the Le Royal Suite.
Whichever you choose, expect plenty of period charm alongside all the modern comforts.
