Eleven old wooden stilt houses, rescued from the Cambodian countryside and given a second life just outside Siem Reap.
Sala Lodges is a little oasis of calm, a short hop from Siem Reap town and the temples of Angkor. Each traditional Khmer house was moved here from a rural village and lovingly restored, so every one comes with its own story.
It’s a characterful, relaxed place to stay, with a real sense of Cambodian history woven into the experience.
The houses are spread across well-kept gardens, giving plenty of space and privacy.
At the heart of it all is a large pool, the perfect place to unwind after a day among the temples. There are two restaurants serving fresh Khmer food, both traditional and contemporary, and the team here are consistently praised by our travellers.
When you fancy an evening out, a complimentary tuk-tuk will whisk you into town for the night market and plenty of restaurants.
The Rooms
No two houses are alike. Each differs in shape, size and décor, with room layouts to suit couples, families and friends travelling together.
Inside, clean lines and high ceilings create a bright, open-plan feel.
The interiors are simple and tasteful, dotted with Cambodian art and antiques.
