The House of MG
Textile heritage,
Colonial charm,
Indoor pool and spa

Heritage Enthusiasts
Originally built in the early 20th century as a home for one of the city’s founding fathers, this heritage hotel is an architectural wonder in the UNESCO World Heritage City of Ahmedabad.
The hotel’s central location in the city’s heart is within easy reach of some of Ahmedabad’s prime attractions and a stroll away from local markets and heritage walks. The city is famed for its thriving textile industry, and the original owner of The House of MG was himself a textile magnate.
The ornate decoration and lavish architecture of the hotel provide a glimpse into the opulent past of the colonial era of Gujarat.
The property has been restored and upgraded with two restaurants, a gym, a spa, and a large indoor pool, but it still exudes the old-world charm of the original mansion.
We’d recommend anyone visiting Ahmedabad to stay at The House of MG, not only for its spacious rooms, excellent facilities and restaurants, and location but also for a taster of what life would have been like in a prosperous, bygone era. Some of the rooms can be a bit noisy as you’re close to local life however we can ensure the most peaceful ones are booked for you.
The Rooms
The property has 37 rooms and suites with 5 room types, all spacious and fitted with locally crafted furniture. Mod cons like aircon and WiFi are standard, but this doesn’t detract from the constant vintage feel which runs through the hotel. With the exception of the Superior King, all other rooms can comfortably accommodate a family of four.
