Umaid Bhawan Palace
Landmark hotel,
Fabled history
Couples

Umaid Bhawan Palace was designed and constructed in golden sandstone between 1928 and 1943, commissioned by Maharaja Umaid Singh as a symbol of hope and renewal for Jodhpur.
Once built, it became the city’s new landmark, eclipsing even the mighty Mehrangarh Fort. Today, it remains one of the largest private residences in the world, offering guests the rare chance to stay inside a working royal palace.

Because this property has such a fascinating and important history, there is a Palace Museum on the grounds, with plenty of Edwardian treasures, weapons, miniature paintings, and collections belonging to former Maharajas.
On the sprawling 26-acre grounds, there’s a large swimming pool, tennis courts, and a spa.
Jodhpur is close by with its bustling bazaars, narrow twisting lanes, and the imposing Mehrangarh Fort.

The Rooms
There are 64 rooms and suites, all decorated in an incomparable Art Deco style, drawing inspiration from East and West.
The rooms are incredibly luxurious, although the colour and décor themes feel a bit dated. Opt for a historical suite for extra space.
The regal atmosphere here is a tad over the top, and it may feel a bit pretentious for some travellers, particularly the room themes. Still, the palace does offer a rich and colourful history, unique Art Deco design, good facilities, and plenty of luxury touches.
