Set in the incredibly beautiful eastern edge of Java, this hotel is a lovely place to return to after tracing the path up to Ijen Crater (one of the world’s most dramatic volcanic craters).
From the pool and balconies, soak in 360 views of tiered rice paddies, sprawling rainforest and the chain of volcanoes of Ijen National Park rising on the horizon. It’ll give you a real sense of place and space.
Despite some bumpy roads on the final approach to Ijen Resort & Villas, it is well worth the journey (and all part of the adventure!).
Hikes up the volcanoes and into the national park are easily arranged from here. For slightly less adventurous travellers, the well-manicured resort gardens and pool offer quiet areas to relax in while drinking in Java’s kaleidoscopic landscapes.
The remote location offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of the rest of Java, creating a peaceful environment to sink into after a day exploring the great outdoors.

A Brilliant Adventure (Bali and Beyond)
Decided we wanted to do more than just go to Bali so asked for something different and some travelling around, and what an adventure it turned out to be. Highlight climbing the Ijen volcano in East Java a fantastic experience with our very experienced guide... Then off to Sumba a magical and intriguing island... The whole trip was a great mixture of adventure, culture and lovely hotels.
