In the heart of central Java with panoramic views of surrounding volcanic peaks, this working coffee plantation has been converted into a stylish, traditionally Javanese wellness retreat.
The lush gardens give off a sense of peace, tranquillity and privacy.
It’s an incredibly relaxing and peaceful environment and the wellness concept gives guests the opportunity to reinvigorate and rest, feeling the stresses and strains of home melt away.
Mesastila leans into its wellness ethos, with fresh, plantation-grown food, daily yoga, guided runs, and even a complimentary 15-minute massage each day. Stays are full board, so all activities and a leisurely afternoon tea are included – making it better value than you might expect. Alcohol is kept low-key (though you can enjoy wine with dinner), keeping the focus on health.
The real draw, though, is the setting: manicured gardens, views of eight volcanic peaks, and a working coffee plantation where you can tour – and taste – to your heart’s content.
Afternoons often slip away beside the vast infinity pool.
Whether you’re after a proper detox with plenty of action, or simply a serene spot to rest and recharge, Mesastila ticks both boxes.
The Rooms
The 23 villas are spread out throughout the greenery and each come with pretty verandas.
From the traditional Plantation Villas with king-size beds to the Arum Villas, which are a littel more characterful: furnished with traditional Javanese décor and antiquities with a big bathroom, day bed, and wider views of hills and volcanoes.
Families and friends have options with the Ambar Villas. The simplest pairs a double and single bedroom with a shared living room and veranda, the 2-Bedroom Villa has two doubles, each with its own bathroom and lounge. The Family Villa has two floors for extra breathing room. All sleep four adults (or five with an extra bed).
For something indulgent, Bella Vista is a private five-villa residence with its own pool, garden, sweeping mountain views, and butler service. Sleeping up to 15, it’s perfect for a group getaway.
