The Barefoot Eco Hotel & Villas
Inhabited island life,
Eco-ethos
Couples,
Families
Barefoot sits on Hanimaadhoo, one of the few Maldivian islands people actually live on, rather than an isolated resort island.
Cycle around the town or explore on foot, and interact with the community, seeing a side of the Maldives that few travellers experience.
Set among forest, the eco-hotel overlooks a pristine stretch of private beach, where days can be spent swimming, snorkelling or learning to dive. Or cool off in the pool or settle into a sunlounger with a good book.
If you’re looking for an alternative to the typical Maldives resort, with a closer look at Maldivian life, this is a strong option for you.
The main restaurant serves up Mediterranean-inspired dishes and fresh seafood, with private beach dinners and barbecues set up on request. There’s a casual Raanee Snack Bar for Maldivian home-style cooking steps from the beach and a Juice Bar for fresh juices, mocktails and light bites between the pool and restaurant.
It’s worth noting: no alcohol is served on the island itself, though you can take a trip out to the boat bar.
The Rooms
Rooms are comfortable, and there are several different sizes, all built with the eco-friendly and sustainable ethos in mind.
They are nicely furnished, with all the usual amenities you’d need.
Ground floor rooms have direct access to the sand and beach but, if you prefer ocean views the top floor rooms are for you.
