What makes it stand out is its thoughtful blend of traditional Newari architecture with stylish, contemporary interiors. In our eyes, it’s the perfect spot to delve into the UNESCO-protected city’s historic arts and crafts scene, and rest and recuperate after a trek in the Himalayas.
The hotel’s restaurant serves up authentic Newari cuisine, using seasonal produce grown by local farmers and there’s a rooftop bar where you can sip on an evening drink as the sun goes down. Magic. The Nanee even has its own amphitheatre where you can experience the art of local storytelling during your stay.
There are just 18 cosy rooms and suites spread throughout the heritage house. While compact in size, they’ve all been designed to feel spacious with clean, serene colour palettes and clever lighting. Choose ‘Sky Garden’ for a courtyard view or the Nepali Suite if you’d like your own hottub.
