This luxury tented camp sits amongst rolling red sand dunes and wadis, looking out to rugged mountains in the distance but just a two hour drive from Muscat.
Other excursions include a visit to the old fort in Mantrib to get an insight into the history here, a visit to the Wadi Bani Khalid with its aqua waters, shopping in a local Souq, a visit to a Bedouin family home and quad bike adventures. At the camp itself, you can relax in the recreation lounge with board games, movies, a library, pool table and children’s play area. Traditional Omani fare is served but so are international dishes. A memorable experience is sitting by the campfire in the evenings as a traditional Omani lamb barbeque or ‘Shuwa’ is served under the stars.
39 tents are scattered around the red sand with canvas roofs and pops of colourful furnishings inside. You’ll have air conditioning, en-suite bathrooms, comfortable beds, a living area (and surprisingly strong wifi). Two-bedroom tents are also available, which are great for families.
Desert Nights camp isn’t as far into the desert or secluded as other camps, however it is a great option for families and those wanting a luxurious tent to retreat to after a day of adventuring around the dunes and surrounding area.
A few of our favourite routes – hand-picked by the team and ripe for tweaking.
Think of them as conversation starters. Curiosity sparkers. Not fixed plans – just ideas for what your holiday could look like, shaped by years of local know-how and the kind of immersive experiences that live long in the memory.
