Rail Side and Alleys - Urban Walking Tour
This is a unique opportunity to leave the hustle and bustle of downtown Saigon and walk through hidden alleys around the outskirts of the city to get an in-depth look at the real lives of the locals.
After a short drive from your hotel, your walk begins in the charming alleyways of Phu Nhuan District. Along the way, you will see children playing after school while residents sit outside, chatting and sipping tea. As you explore, stop whenever you like to visit less-frequented temples, small pagodas, or to greet curious children observing foreigners. Then, wander through a colourful local market, where vendors sell all kinds of goods.
Later in the morning, follow a hidden rail track to a local coffee shop. Enjoy a cool drink and strike up a friendly conversation with the owner and other locals who gather there.
After your break, take a short drive to the open stalls behind Tan Dinh Market. Here, office workers often pick up freshly made food after their shifts. Next, stroll along lively streets lined with fashion shops and bakeries baking fresh baguettes.
Your walk continues to Nam Chon Temple, where you can watch the daily martial arts class at 5 pm. Finally, end the day at a small temple where parents come to pray before their children take exams, hoping for good results.
