The volcanic region of the Ijen Plateau is clearly dominated by the impressive cones of the Ijen, Merapi and Raung volcanoes, offering a spectacular skyline to those who visit. This day trip explores the area’s rural villages, coffee and clove plantations and Javanese rainforest before culminating in the splendour of the vibrant turquoise sulphur lake, surrounded by sheer crater walls at 2883m above sea level.
