Not only is it the first real five-star luxury ship on the Mekong, but it’s also a pioneer in exclusive and hand-crafted experiences that take you well off the beaten path and into the real backwaters of the Mekong Delta, teeming with life and beautiful scenery.
While the boat is absolutely beautiful, we feel that one of the best things about Aqua Mekong is their itinerary, full of handcrafted cultural experiences that take you well away from the rest of the tourists and deep into the heart of the true Mekong Delta. The Aqua Expeditions founder has personally sailed every inch of the Mekong Delta hunting out beautiful viewpoints and un-spoiled tributaries to ensure the route of the cruise is unique and rewarding.
With its small-group feel, exceptional cuisine, and access to remote areas, Aqua Mekong suits couples, families, and solo explorers who want comfort, culture, and a deeper perspective on life along the river.
The observation deck and outdoor lounge are lovely recreational spaces, with sun loungers, canopies, a bar, day beds, and outdoor cinema. There’s also space on the top deck for a barbecue-style dinner, which is included during your trip. Inside there is a stylish dining room and lounge with a bar, information point and couches for relaxing. As well as a spa, library, games room and boutique shop on board, there’s also an indoor cinema and river facing plunge pool to finish of the five-star experience. Executive chef of all food served on board is The World’s Best Restaurants’ top-ranked Asia chef David Thompson, delivering world-class Asian fusion cuisine.
The boat itself was built in Saigon and is elegant in design with floor-to-ceiling windows throughout, offering breathtaking views of the Mekong Delta region. There are 20 suites in total, half with balconies and the other half without, however they are all the same price as even those without balconies have large windows with daybeds underneath, making for a lovely place to lay back and watch river life. They are all well-appointed as any five-star luxury boutique hotel room would be, with large comfy beds, sleek décor, stylish en-suite bathrooms and fantastic amenities. There are interconnecting suites for families, and all suites can be arranged as a triple room with an extra bed.
