Hue Garden House
Ancestral family home,
Immersive cultural experience,
Peaceful rural setting
Couples,
Families,
Solo Travellers
This immersive homestay experience takes place in the nearby countryside, where you’ll have the chance to stay with ancestors of the imperial family’s scholars.
Not only will you be able to slow down and appreciate the local culture, but you’ll also gain valuable insight into the region’s history and ancient traditions you’d otherwise miss.
The property itself is an ancestral family home where you’ll stay in a simple but comfortable double room set in manicured gardens full of palms and the sounds of chirping frogs and crickets.
Ideal for curious travellers looking to go beyond the usual hotel stay.
After a warm welcome and a cup of tea, we suggest taking out bikes to explore the area, which is full of hidden temples. One of the family members will accompany you and introduce you to local artisans who have been making handicrafts for generations. The family will also share stories of their ancestors and teach you about unusual crafts such as flute making, calligraphy, and bonsai tree gardening.
We always think the best part of access to a family home is the home-cooked food. A multiple dish spread of Hue specialties is prepared for you as you learn some Vietnamese from your hosts.
(For those who don’t have enough time to stay or prefer a more traditional hotel, we also arrange a day experience here from central Hue hotels.)
The Rooms
Guests stay in a modest but comfortable double room set within the family’s home. It’s clean and well-kept, with fans and mosquito nets but facilities are fairly basic. However, the setting and hospitality more than make up for the simplicity.
You’ll be warmly welcomed and treated as part of the household, sharing in the rhythms of rural life.
