Depart your home country on your flight to Delhi.
This is a far cry from the standard route most people take through India’s Golden Triangle. Rather than rushing to tick off every famous site, we widen the journey.
Pairing the essentials with time in Rajasthan’s rural heartlands, where daily life, landscape and tradition quietly shape the experience.
You’ll still experience the energy of Delhi, the colour and craft of Jaipur, and the grandeur of the Taj Mahal. What changes is the context. By balancing these iconic moments with time spent in carefully chosen heritage properties, hosted by families with deep roots in the region, the journey feels more grounded, more personal, and easier to absorb. The pace and setting do some of the work for you.
Regal Residences of Rajasthan
As with all our holidays, this itinerary is just a starting point. We will create a bespoke package which will be completely unique for you.
Day 1
Your adventure begins
Days 2 - 3
Delhi
Your guide and driver will welcome you to India and whisk you to your hotel in the heart of New Delhi. During your time in the city, there is time to take our signature tours that explore both Old and New Delhi. Experience the thrills of a rickshaw ride through the old quarter while sampling some of the city’s legendary dishes.
Days 4 - 5
Chambal
From Delhi, travel by train towards Agra, stopping at Chambal Safari Lodge, set beside one of northern India’s most ecologically rich rivers. This pause changes the rhythm of the trip. Instead of arriving straight into Agra’s intensity, time here offers space: quiet mornings on the river, village temples at dusk, and a sense of rural life that adds depth and contrast to what follows.
Despite its proximity to one of the world’s great monuments, this region is often overlooked, yet it’s a stop that makes the Taj feel more earned rather than overwhelming.
Day 6
Agra
From Chambal, continue to Agra for a considered visit to the Taj Mahal. Approached early or late in the day, and without rush, its scale and craftsmanship speak for themselves. You’ll stay nearby at The Oberoi, chosen for its discretion and ease, so the experience feels unhurried and memorable.
Days 7 - 9
Jaipur
Head to Jaipur where your time is spent largely on foot and by bike, moving through neighbourhoods rather than between monuments. This is a city best understood at street leve: through daily rituals, markets, workshops and places of worship that sit side by side, punctuated by ceremonies that mark the city’s rhythm.
By keeping the pace unforced, Jaipur reveals itself as a lived-in, layered and eloquent city rather than a backdrop for sightseeing.
Days 10 - 11
Shapura Bagh
From the bustle of Jaipur, travel by road to the rural Palace of Shahpura Bagh (around a four-hour drive). Part heritage hotel, part royal homestay, it remains home to the same family after more than twenty generations. Time here is shaped by your hosts, who share both the pleasures and responsibilities of caring for a working estate, while bringing the surrounding town and region into focus.
Days pass at an easy pace, with space to relax by the pool or explore locally, and evenings often spent together over food and conversation.
Days 12 - 13
Chanoud Garh
Chanoud Garh offers a different kind of rural palace experience. Lovingly restored and still firmly in family hands, it remains first and foremost a private home. Days here unfold slowly, shaped by shared meals, stories passed down through generations, and time spent simply being in the space rather than moving through it. Exploring the palace itself or heading out into the surrounding villages and countryside by jeep offers a gentle insight into everyday life in this part of Rajasthan, where tradition continues not as a performance but as a matter of course.
Days 14 - 15
Udaipur
The journey concludes in Udaipur, a city shaped as much by water and light as by history. Time here is unhurried: spent exploring its old quarters, lakeside paths, and hilltop views, with space to reflect on the journey as a whole. It’s a fitting place to end: elegant, absorbing, and confident in its sense of place.
Day 16
Fly home
Today you’ll transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
