The Vietage Train

The Vietage Carriage is a luxury rail car for a maximum of 12 passengers that is added onto the train travelling between Danang (nr Hoi An) and the beaches of Quy Nhon.

A 300 km, 6-hour journey that allows passengers to embrace the romance of old-school rail travel and connect the two destinations in style.

The best direction to travel is south, departing from Hoi An at 8am. This timing allows you to take in the changing views of coastal Vietnam. And, truly, the scenery does not disappoint.

Along the way, you may spot the first capital of the Hindu Champa Kingdom. Further south, you could pass the coastal city of Quảng Ngãi, home to the Long Wall of Vietnam. Meanwhile, An Khe Lake comes into view, widely regarded as the cradle of Sa Huynh culture.

When you are not watching the landscape outside, the onboard experience offers plenty to enjoy. For example, there is a sit-up bar, six private booths, and even a massage room. Yes, every guest receives a complimentary head and shoulder massage. In addition, a three-course meal and free-flowing drinks are included.

If you start to feel tired, the seats easily convert into beds. There are also board games, free wifi, and ice cream for children. At first, this level of comfort may sound excessive. However, we never found it stuffy. Instead, the staff are friendly and down to earth, and the experience passes quickly.

In the opposite direction, the train departs Quy Nhon at 6pm and arrives in Hoi An at 12.30am. As a result, the timing may feel late for some travellers. Even so, the evening service creates a sociable atmosphere. By the time you arrive, you will have eaten well and likely made a few new friends.
