Lechuna Heritage Lodge is a restored traditional farmhouse in the village of Lechu, nestled among the rice fields and pine forests of Haa Valley. Perched at nearly 3,000 metres, it offers a rustic yet authentic experience in Bhutan’s wild west, with views stretching across the river and mountains beyond.
The lodge has just seven simple rooms and shared bathrooms, arranged around a central courtyard. Meals are hearty and home-cooked, with a mix of Bhutanese, Tibetan and Western dishes. During the day, you can hike to remote temples, cycle along mountain roads, or simply enjoy the stillness of Haa. The staff are friendly and full of local knowledge, helping you get a sense of life in this off-the-beaten-track region.
Enter the farmhouse and you’ll find a cosy communal lounge—an inviting spot to unwind after a day exploring the valley. There are seven simple but comfortable rooms, including one single, two twins, two doubles and a triple, arranged around a central courtyard. Bathrooms are shared, located at the end of the hallway, and kept clean by the on-site team. The lodge isn’t run as a full guesthouse—the owners do not stay on site—but private dining is available for overnight guests. If you’re looking for high-end luxury or are uncomfortable with shared facilities, this may not be the place for you. However, for those seeking peace, culture and scenery, it’s the best option in the valley.
