With a backdrop of an ancient protected pine forest, this family-run resort is ideally placed near the beautiful Wangdicholing Palace, Bumthang Chu River and Valley.
It is one of the oldest hotels in the area and is filled with charm, character and rustic touches, with a strong focus on family and tradition.
The staff and family have a deep-rooted sense of hospitality, aim to please and are best known for their wonderful service. Located just a few minutes’ walks from the town centre, the Mountain Resort is a great base for visiting the Bumthang region as many temples and monasteries are nearby. The hotel restaurant serves home-cooked, healthy regional favourites using produce from the surrounding region such as farm-sourced local cheeses, fruits and vegetables.
Well-suited to couples, culture lovers and travellers who want to settle into the rhythm of rural Bhutan.
Bhutan Mountain Resort offers a gentle, scenic base in Bumthang, ideal as part of a deeper journey through the central valleys. For those seeking authenticity and quiet landscapes, it’s a rewarding place to pause.
The Rooms
Rooms are spacious, with pine and stone-clad walls and flooring and lovely valley views. The traditional wood-stove or Bukhari warms up space in the winter months. Note that the showers are geyser operated, therefore hot water can run out quite quickly.
The resort has no-frills, however, the kind hospitality and prime location make it an ideal place to stay for those wanting to explore the Bumthang area and all its beauty.
