Lunch at a Social Enterprise Restaurant in Ubud

Tuck into a delicious lunch and contribute to life-changing healthcare to those in need. It’s a win-win.
Most ETG experiences include a lunch, and we design the experience to ensure you steer clear of ordinary tourist buffets and focus on flavours of the local cuisine. We like to include at least one meal during your holiday at a social enterprise restaurant.
Typically, the establishments collaborate with local community programs and offer vocational training, which create life-changing employment opportunities for marginalised youth in the area. Beyond the skills they teach their trainees, these restaurants serve lovely home-cooked food and are a platform for cultural exchange, where you can chat with staff members and learn about local customs.
As part of our orientation tour of Ubud we include dinner at Fair Warung Bale, a social enterprise restaurant that aims to provide free healthcare to those in need. The restaurant’s profits directly fund the Fair Future Foundation, which runs various healthcare programs. You can enjoy a wide range of delectable dishes such as Nasi Campur, Mie Goreng or Babi Guling: a Balinese specialty consisting of succulent roasted suckling pig served with aromatic steamed rice, crispy skin, spicy sambal, and various accompaniments.
We began including social enterprise restaurants as part of an initiative we call “One Meal At A Time”. We started this in Vietnam and Cambodia and have since expanded it to include restaurants in Sri Lanka, Laos, India, Indonesia, and Thailand. We are confident of the positive local impact these restaurants have and of the way in which they can also enhance your experience of our destinations.
What you’ll do
- Tuck into local dishes at a social enterprise restaurant funding free healthcare for the local community
- Meet staff in training and hear how your meal helps provide life-changing opportunities for marginalised youth
- Experience a deeper connection to local culture through food, conversation, and purpose — one meal at a time

Classic Bali & Lombok
The neighbouring islands of Bali and Lombok are easily combined. With a range of gorgeous boutique hotels in even its most rural areas, we think Bali is the better of the two for experiencing culture and countryside without compromising on creature comforts.
Lombok, however, has some exceptional beach hotels, and its coastal areas are far less congested than Bali’s southern shoreline.
A holiday combining the exotic sights and sounds of Bali with the idyllic white-sand beaches of Lombok is a winning combination.
