Bali Explorer
Explore the beach-fringed island of Bali taking in its culture and natural beauty beyond the well-trodden path.
In the southern foothills of Bali’s volcanic mountains, Ubud, the cultural capital of Bali, is famous for its markets, temples, great selection of restaurants and its traditional Balinese architecture along with the surrounding countryside of steep river valleys and glistening paddy fields. This privately guided tour allows you to experience this culture and beauty at first hand.
You will be picked up from your hotel by your guide and taken to Ubud town where you will visit the ARMA Museum's excellent art gallery, home to a wide array of paintings, woodcarvings and dancing. This will give you an insight into the fabulous array of culture and art that Ubud, and by extension Bali, has to offer.
You will then have a chance to walk through Ubud's famous Monkey Forest, which as its name suggests is a forest that is home to hundreds of monkeys (grey macaques in this case). The forest is home to a temple complex and an estimated 340 macaques. The 27 acres of the park are home to around 115 different species of trees and the various pathways provide the setting for lovely walks.
You will leave the forest and head to the centre of the town where, time permitting, you will be able to explore Ubud's Palace and/or the main market which is famous as the centre of commerce for Bali’s traditional crafted goods.
The day is concluded with a traditional Kecak Dance performance staged by the villagers of Batubulan which encapsulates the colours and sounds of this captivating region.
