Hoi An & Danang

The ancient port town of Hoi An is one of Vietnam’s most famous and prestigious towns, with a long and varied history dating back many centuries. Now protected as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the town has much to offer with excellent beaches and the ancient town. It also has a reputation for tailoring, with made to measure garments produced by street tailors across the town at incredible prices. The old town is extra-ordinarily well preserved despite the ravages of the Vietnam war and Hoi An’s former position as the regions pre-eminent port is very apparent in the lovely mix of contrasting regional architectural styles.

The beaches are wide and sweeping and some of Vietnam’s finest properties can be found here. For contemporary style and sophistication try the Nam Hai, the most modern and swish hotel in the country. The Victoria Hoi An is a quality resort with prime beach frontage and easy access to the old town. The Ancient House is great value and is located between the beach and the old town. The beast hotel in the old town itself is the atmospheric Life Heritage Resort - one of our Vietnam favourites.

One of the most ancient cities in Vietnam, Danang was formerly the centre of the Cham dynasty from the 2nd Century. The impressive collection of Cham artifacts at the Cham Museum, the rich and varied history, the ruins at My Son and the atmospheric riverfront all continue to draw admiring visitors. It was also the landing point for French troops and then the US marines, a decade later.
