Day 1

Your adventure begins

It’s time to step away from your everyday, and catch your flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Days 2 - 5

Siem Reap

Your local guide and driver will welcome you to Cambodia and whisk you to your peaceful hotel set among rice paddies and tropical gardens.

Your exploration of the Angkor temples is paced carefully, focusing on atmosphere and storytelling rather than trying to see everything at once. Visits to Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and the tree-entwined ruins of Ta Prohm feel more like discovery than sightseeing, which resonates particularly well with teenagers.

Away from the temples, take to the water on Tonle Sap Lake, gliding past floating villages by private boat and getting to grips with everyday life on the lake. Enjoy an evening at Phare Circus, an engaging and energetic introduction to modern Cambodian culture through music, theatre and acrobatics. You can also go cycling or quad biking through rice fields, visit an elephant sanctuary, or explore local food together, depending on your family’s interests.

Days 6 - 8

Hoi An

Next, fly to Da Nang and continue to Hoi An, where you’ll stay at a relaxed riverside base that works very well for families travelling with teenagers. The setting feels calm and tucked away, yet you’re close to everything. Hoi An’s old town is easily reached via a gentle bamboo-lined cycle path, making it simple to come and go.

Families typically stay in two-bedroom villas, giving everyone their own space, and the riverfront location adds an easy sense of freedom. You can paddle around the small islet by kayak or SUP, go into town by bike in the mornings when it’s quieter, or head back to the retreat for downtime by the pool or river as the day gently unfolds.

Beyond exploring the UNESCO-listed ancient town, you can also samply street food, browse markets, explore the surrounding countryside, either by Vespa or bicycle, passing through farming communities and fishing villages for a closer look at rural life.

Days 9 - 12

Bai San Ho

After breakfast, step aboard a train and head north, watching Vietnam’s scenic shoreline slide past. Step off at Dieu Tri and continue by road to Zannier Bai San Ho, your secluded beach retreat for the next four nights.

Set on a tranquil peninsula south of Quy Nhon, this is where you can all exhale, together. Spend days barefoot on the beach, snorkelling vibrant reefs, or unwinding in the spa. For more movement, there’s tennis, kayaking, and guided walks through nearby villages, encounters that reveal the rhythms of coastal Vietnamese life.

For families, we usually book the two-bedroom Hill Pool Villas, with shared outdoor space, a private plunge pool and sweeping sea views; ideal for teenagers who want independence while still being close by.

Days 13 - 15

Hanoi

Today, you’ll fly north to Hanoi, where the final days of your trip unfold in lively contrast to the coast.

Wander the Old Quarter, weaving through narrow streets that pulse with markets, cafés and workshops. A knowledgeable local guide will deepen your understanding of the city’s past and present as you explore together.

Families often rate our guided street food experience as a trip highlight; it’s a fun, social way to discover local dishes side by side. You might also explore the Ho Chi Minh Quarter, step into museums that tell the nation’s story, or discover rail-side neighbourhoods that reveal a grittier, more authentic side of the city.

We keep your evenings relaxed, leaving time to delve into Hanoi’s thriving café culture or reflect on the journey.

Day 16

Fly home

Today, it’s sadly time to wave goodbye. Your driver will drop you off at the airport for your flight home from Hanoi.

(Or, if you’d like to stay a little longer, we’d be happy to extend your holiday.)

Important FAQs about Cambodia & Vietnam

There’s so much more to Cambodia than the awe-inspiring Angkor temples, incredible though they are, and we do Vietnam differently than most as it’s all-too-often reduced to tickbox-travel. Travelling with ETG means exploring the countries in a way that feels personal, thoughtful, and enriching.

We’ll show you life beyond the tourist hotspots: serene riverside towns, thriving local markets, and countryside where time slows down. Our itineraries are designed for a deeper connection, whether that’s dining with local families, gliding along rivers in traditional boats, or unwinding at hand-picked boutique stays.

With expert guides and 24/7 in-country support, we make sure you see Asia in a way that’s inspiring, seamless, and uniquely yours.

Cambodia’s dry season runs from November to April, when clear skies and warm, sunny days make temple visits and countryside explorations most enjoyable.

Vietnam’s weather can be a bit of a puzzle. With its long, thin shape and mix of beaches, mountains, and cities, each region dances to its own climate tune. The North, Central, and South all have distinct weather patterns – and that’s before you factor in the cooler highlands or the breezy coastlines. Generally, November to April is the sweet spot when much of the country is dry and pleasantly warm.

Every ETG holiday is designed to feel considered, immersive and stress free. We’ll arrange international flights (if you’d like us to), your drivers and guides, and stays in characterful hotels we know and trust.

You’ll experience Cambodia and Vietnam in a way that’s completely bespoke to you – from quiet moments to big adventures – all planned by our specialists. And while you’re away, our local team is on hand 24/7, so you’ll always feel well looked after.
