4 Rivers Floating Lodge, Tatai
Cambodia, Phnom Penh and The South

Info : 4 Rivers Floating Lodge

Peaceful seclusion, privacy and luxury far away from the beaten trail - the 4 Rivers Floating Lodge near Tatai is one of the most unique and unusual properties we have come across.

Situated on the curve of a river in the little explored Cardamom Mountains, close to the border between Cambodia and Thailand, it offers an unforgettable and magical escape.

Surrounded by unspoiled forest, rare orchids and fragrant frangipani trees, the resort's 12 safari style villas are equipped with all mod cons - flat screen televisions, Wi-Fi, en-suite bathrooms and private sundecks. However, it is quite likely that you will spend most of your time out exploring the mountains and their flora and fauna. In addition to the beautiful setting and unique accommodation the resort has a library and a great restaurant serving a mix of western and Asian food, with river fish the regional specialty.

Activities and excursions are varied and plentiful. Kayaking, swimming, fishing and boat trips to nearby mangroves are available right from the edge of your veranda. Further afield you can walk in the Cardamom Mountains and explore rural villages. Our pick of excursions is the 40 minute boat ride to the Tatai waterfalls; there are not many places in Southeast Asia with such a picture perfect river setting.

The Cardamom Mountains and rainforests are a wildlife enthusiast’s paradise, with many rare species hiding away in its wilds. Javan rhinoceros, Indochinese tigers, Asian elephants and cloud leopard are all believed to inhabit the range. There are also thought be over 500 species of birds here making it a real must for keen bird watchers.

The Four Rivers Floating lodge marks a significant development for Cambodian tourism and offers its lucky clients the chance to visit remotest Cambodia whilst keeping some valuable creature comforts in reserve in case of bad weather.

Eco/Adventure - This category covers gorgeous lodges in the jungle, comfortable safari camps and dreamy, but simple, beach cabanas. These places defy conventional categorisation: what is communing with nature to one person may be terrifying bugs to another! Many of these places are very comfortable and the service generally of a very high level - but please read the website review carefully and/or talk to us and be sure to have understood what you are letting yourselves in for!

Guest Comments for 4 Rivers Floating Lodge

This is somewhat overrated and oversold. Whilst the tents were lovely there is nothing eco or quiet about the place. There is the constant and intrusive sound of one or more generators, the day trips are overpriced for what they are, the food was generally quite poor and restaurant service pretty dreadful.

The Four Rivers, inspired concept, quite shocked at first as we had just checked out from Song Saa and wondered if we had made a mistake. But by the evening having watched the most amazing sunset listening to nothing other than the bird song from the jungle we felt so calm and peaceful. The tents are well thought out and the bathrooms are incredible for where they are.
