With a minimalistic design, manicured gardens and towering palms, the Bale is a contemporary collection of 18 suites in a beautiful setting on the banks of the Mekong. The location, 20 or so minutes drive outside Phnom Penh, is a great spot for anyone looking for an oasis away from the bustling city.
As you enter the property, you’ll be greeted by a beautiful pool and garden area that sits parallel to the riverbank, beneath the palms. There are plenty of sun loungers to relax on and the Theato restaurant where you can enjoy all of your meals, from an a la carte breakfast to Khmer-style lunches and dinners.
Rooms are very large and in keeping with the minimal style. They feature dark wooden, modern furnishings, spacious bathrooms with a lovely bathtub to relax in, double vanities and a rainwater shower. Courtyard rooms, of course, have a pleasant courtyard to sit out in, while the Riverfront suites are larger and overlook the pool and Mekong.
The Bale’s setting is both beautiful and tranquil, and it’s a lovely option for those who prefer a more modern, boutique property in a quiet location. However, it's not ideal for those who want to be in the thick of the city.
Deluxe - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.
