White Mansion, Phnom Penh

White Mansion has the feel of a boutique hotel but is perhaps a little too large to strictly fit the standard definition.  It has a deluxe feel and retains original charm whilst benefitting from an enviable location behind the Royal palace. The hotel was opened in 2011 and the building was carefully restored, with a showpiece of a spiral staircase going all the way up to the fourth floor. It’s worth going to the top just for the views across the city.

The hotel has 30 international quality rooms, a spa and a 25 metre pool in a pleasant courtyard. The rooms themselves offer plush soft furnishings, huge ceilings, some with balconies and views across the city. The junior suites offer exceptional value for money and are our favourites. Note the lift only goes up to level 3 and some rooms are on the fourth floor. There is a lovely French deli and restaurant attached which is headed up by a French chef.  

For the size of the rooms and the location White Mansion is really good value. It’s ideal for people who like a boutique feel but perhaps prefer a few more facilities than a really small boutique hotel would offer. It’s a great base for couples but families are catered for too, small children get a soft toy on arrival and there is a dedicated games console area for teenagers.
