Pangkor Laut
Private island,
Emerald Bay
Couples,
Families
A private island in the Straits of Malacca, where wooden villas perch over the water and rainforest tumbles down to the sea.
Pangkor Laut Resort occupies its own island off Malaysia’s west coast, set across 300 acres of ancient rainforest. The villas are built from timber and blend beautifully into the landscape.
Its crowning glory is Emerald Bay, a crescent of soft sand and clear water often counted among the most beautiful beaches in the world.
The Spa Village is a highlight, with a wide range of relaxing and restorative treatments drawing on Asian healing traditions.
You’ll be spoilt for choice at mealtimes, with seven restaurants and bars around the island. Dine on fresh seafood at the adults-only Fisherman’s Cove, or tuck into home-style Chinese cooking at Uncle Lim’s Kitchen.
There are two pools: a main infinity-style pool and a quieter one reserved for spa guests. For something more active, there’s yoga, tai chi, kayaking, wakeboarding and waterskiing.
All in all, this is a wonderfully indulgent island escape with plenty to keep you busy, or not.
The Rooms
The villas are spread across the island, each built from wood and designed to sit lightly in the landscape.
The Sea Villas stand on stilts over the water, with the sea right beneath your feet.
The Hill Villas are tucked into the rainforest on the slopes, with sweeping ocean views.
