A tale of Three Taj Mahals, Agra
India, Uttar Pradesh

Info : A tale of Three Taj Mahals

There is more than just one Taj Mahal in Agra; there is the precursor to the Taj Mahal - Itmad ud Daula, there is John Hessing’s Tomb in the Roman Catholic Cemetery which was inspired by the Taj’s Architecture and, of course, there is the Taj Mahal itself.
Today you will complete your journey around all three. You will start with a trip to the Roman Catholic Church in the morning and then visit Itmad Ud Daula. While not as impressive as the Taj Mahal, it has arguably more intricate carving work thanks to the Jali, or marble lattice screens. You will have then time for lunch and relaxation back at your hotel before you head to the iconic Taj Mahal for sunset. Built in white marble by Emperor Shah Jahan as a mausoleum for his beloved queen, the building is a universal symbol of love and a superb example of Muslim art in India. Its intricate paintings, motifs, calligraphy, floor tiling and marble work are exceptionally beautiful.
