India, The Punjab
Info : Explore Amritsar
Explore the main sights in and around the incredible city of Amritsar. You’ll start the day with your brilliant local guide with an early morning visit to a Sikh temple to witness the daily ceremony. Everyone is welcome. After returning to your hotel for breakfast you'll continue your tour with a visit to the spectacular ''Golden Temple" Harmandir Sahib, which was built in the 16th century as a place of worship for men and women from all walks of life and all religions to come and worship God equally. It’s the place people come to Amritsar to visit and one of India’s ‘must visits’.
After exploring the central market area on foot you will then visit Jallianwala Bagh, a public garden and memorial that commemorates the massacre of Indian citizens by British occupying forces on the Punjabi New Year 1919.
Eastern India is a great holiday - Calcutta vibrant, the Sunderbans peaceful, the mountains majestic and the monasteries interesting. I won't mention the roads!
