This isolated resort is accessible only by boat from the banks of stunning Lake Vembanad in the Kuttanad district of Kerala. The accommodation consists of old mansions, sourced from the local surroundings, transported piece by piece to the resort location, and then beautifully restored in painstaking detail by local craftsmen. Charming canals frequently intersect the tropical gardens on the property, which make it a particularly unique and special place to stay a few days.
It’s easy to do day cruises in the backwaters from Coconut Lagoon, and the renowned Kavanar Bird Sanctuary is close at hand. Time spent at the resort itself is a pleasure – it is particularly well known for great Ayurvedic treatments and outstanding traditional Keralan cuisine, with a focus on terrific seafood.
