Netuk is a humble, characterful heritage property in central Gangtok, with beautifully intricate Sikkimese motifs and design elements. Despite its central location in the town, it remains a quiet place to retreat to. It is more like a guesthouse than a hotel, with prompt and friendly service, and cosy communal spaces.
Views from the outdoor seating area and balconies are beautiful, especially when the skies are clear and you can look out over the distant mountain range. The Cow Gher Lounge is a particularly lovely spot to relax. A highlight of your stay here will no doubt be the food, wherein the restaurant, sumptuous and authentic Sikkimese dinners are served.
The 12 rooms are spread out across three different buildings, each with classic and colourful exteriors. They are simple yet spacious, not overly luxurious yet humble. Decorated with traditional furnishings, woven carpets and works of art, they’re fitted with all the comforting amenities.
Netuk comes highly recommended due to its central location in Gangtok, as well as its comfortable, characterful rooms and communal spaces. However, it’s not for those looking for a property with a wide range of facilities.
Comfort - This is our lead in category. There will generally be a no frills approach and while some will be characterful, some will do exactly what it says on the tin - provide a clean, comfortable and good value place to spend the night. These places are normally 3* hotels.
