This surprisingly modern hotel on the outskirts of Jaisalmer rises out of the Thar desert, a spectacular sandstone creation with 360-degree views across the landscape.
It’s grand and sumptuous inside, with rooms, suites and Havelis set around a large courtyard. The grounds are particularly gorgeous in the evening when they’re lit up. A stay at Suryagarh is atmospheric and unique.
The hotel is 20 minutes away from Jaisalmer, making it a good option for an escape from the city or a pleasant stopover on your way to and from other Rajasthani destinations. A stay at Suryagarh is a truly unique Indian experience and comes highly recommended.

Jaisalmer is the ultimate Thar Desert destination, now gaining momentum as a top spot in Rajasthan. Known as Golden City, it is famous for the imposing yellow sandstone fort that sits atop the city ramparts. Inside the fort perimeter, there are seven ancient Jain temples and plenty of weaving alleyways bustling with activity.
The old city is full of Havelis, temples and tombs, but perhaps the real highlight in Jaisalmer is the desert itself, best explored by camel.
At the hotel, you can use the gym, swim in the beautiful indoor pool, practise yoga, play snooker, or book a world-class spa treatment.

The Rooms
The rooms are comfortable and very spacious, although some are a little worn down. All have old-world furniture and tasteful décor and feature modern technology. For a special treat, book a suite with its own private pool on the rooftop – this makes for a spectacular evening dip with just the sound of the breeze to accompany you.

What You’ll Find:
- A wide range of room categories including suites and private rooftop pools
- Indoor swimming pool, gym, yoga and snooker facilities
- An indulgent spa offering Rajasthani-inspired treatments
Why You'll Love It:
- Experience desert luxury just outside Jaisalmer’s golden city walls
- Wind down with world-class wellness treatments in a stunning desert setting
- Explore Jaisalmer’s culture by day, return to peace and comfort by night
