Day 1

Your adventure begins

Depart your home country on your flight to Yogkakarta, Indonesia (via Singapore).

Day 2 - 5

Borobudur

Your guide and driver will welcome you to Indonesia and whisk you to your first glorious hotel, Amanjiwo. Here, you’ll have views that shift with the light right across paddy fields and Borobudur on the horizon.

Rise early to explore the vast temple complex at sunrise with your guide, when the terraces and carved stupas emerge slowly from the morning mist. Later, you may also wish to visit the nearby temples of Mendut or Pawon, smaller but historically significant sites that form part of the same ancient religious landscape.

There is plenty of time to unwind at Amanjiwo. Though you could visit nearby Yogyakarta, Java’s historic royal capital, where the Kraton (the Sultan’s palace) operates almost as a self-contained city, or head out on guided walks in the Menoreh Hills.

Days 6 - 8

Malang

Travel east by train through Java’s lush interior towards Jombang in East Java on one of the island’s most scenic rail journeys. Your guide will accompany you, while your driver transfers your luggage ahead of time and meets you on arrival. From the station, continue by road through rolling countryside towards Malang and settle into your charming hotel in the centre of the city.

During your time here, head to Mount Bromo for a guided adventure, crossing its ‘Sea of Sand’ by jeep and scaling the volcano. Carefully timed to avoid the crowds that gather for sunrise.

Back in Malang, explore its elegant colonial streets, lively art spaces and peaceful botanical gardens, along with several nearby temples.

Day 9

Surabaya

Continue on to Surabaya with your private driver for a short overnight stay, ahead of your flight to Singapore.

Days 10 - 12

Singapore

Spend two nights in the cosmopolitan city-state, settling into the Ritz-Carlton, deliberately chosen not just for its glittering skyline views but also its free-flowing champagne. Beyond the hotel, discover the city’s legendary hawker stalls, a cornerstone of Singapore’s culinary scene and other sights.

Days 13 - 18

Bawah Reserve

Fly by private seaplane across the South China Sea to Bawah Reserve. Spend five nights on this remote island idyll, where coral reefs, bright jungle and glowing lagoons create a setting that feels far removed from the everyday.

Flit between snorkelling, paddle boarding or simply unwinding by the pool or on your veranda, slowing down to the rhythm of the sea.

A fitting finale, where gorgeous villas, exceptional food and generous service match the beauty of the setting.

Day 19

Fly home

Sadly, it’s time to wave goodbye to Indonesia. Take a seaplane back to Singapore in time for your return flight home.

With ETG, we have visited extraordinary places

... stayed in wondrous hotels, met fascinating everyday people, listened to varied opinions, and learned much about places far away. I couldn't do that on my own.

Pricing:

Each journey is shaped around you, so costs vary depending on season, flight choices, accommodation and how much is built in.

As a guide, most of our two-week trips fall between £5,000 and £10,000 per person.

Some fall below that, particularly for families or travel outside peak periods. Others go beyond it when the brief includes business-class flights, longer stays, or more ambitious hotel choices.

We discuss budget early, so everything is clear from the start.

Meet Our Indonesia Experts

Lola’s love for Indonesia runs deep – and not just for Bali (though she has a soft spot for its magical interior and knows exactly where to find the best warung for lunch). What really excites her is helping travellers uncover the country’s sheer variety – from the smouldering volcanoes of Java to the rich marine areas in far-flung corners like Raja Ampat.

“This trip has everything I love about Indonesia: tropical landscapes, real cultural depth and those off-radar islands that feel like your own private paradise. Visit Bromo later in the day once the sunrise crowds have gone — and definitely make the most of the Ritz-Carlton’s champagne perk!

Important FAQs about Indonesia

At Experience Travel Group, we’ve been crafting immersive holidays in Indonesia for over a decade – long before most travellers look beyond Bali. Our in-depth local knowledge, long-standing partnerships, and genuine love for the country mean we can help you experience Indonesia in a way that’s special and unusual.

Over the years, we’ve developed thoughtful experiences that bring together cultural richness, comfort, and freedom to explore. Think family-friendly beach retreats, wildlife encounters, volcano treks, or private boat trips through island chains few people can name – all tailored to suit you.

With our expert planning and on-the-ground support, you can relax knowing everything’s taken care of – while still having the freedom to discover Indonesia your way. We don’t do one-size-fits-all. Every trip is personalised, every route considered, and every detail planned to help you uncover what makes this country truly remarkable.

Let us show you the Indonesia we know and love.

The short answer? Your best bet is during the summer. The slightly longer answer? Indonesia is massive – a 4,000km stretch of sea and islands, home to thousands of microclimates and shifting seasons. So when you search for the “best time to visit Indonesia” and get five different answers… they’re probably all right. Just for different places.

Most travellers aim for April to October, when much of the country sees its driest, sunniest weather. This works especially well for Bali, Lombok, Java, and Komodo. These months also line up neatly with the European and US summer holidays, which makes planning easier, especially for families.

But here’s where it gets interesting. If you’re heading to Raja Ampat or West Papua, the best time is the opposite – from October to April. Wildlife in Sumatra is great in the mid-year months, while the rainforests of Kalimantan stay steamy year-round (it’s a jungle, after all). And if you’re hoping to catch a particular cultural event or religious festival, that can shift the calendar entirely.

Every ETG holiday to Indonesia is designed to feel seamless, immersive and stress free. We’ll arrange international flights (if you’d like us to), your drivers and guides, and stays in characterful hotels we know and trust.

You’ll experience Indonesia in a way that’s completely tailored to you – from quiet moments to big adventures – all planned by our Indonesia specialists. And while you’re away, our local team is on hand 24/7, so you’ll always feel well looked after.
