This charismatic converted private mansion (haveli) has made a large impression since opening in 2008.
The haveli was built into the ramparts of the Bundi Garh Palace 300 years ago, and you can only enter by foot from the heart of the walled city, through the maze of winding alleyways and up through the original 40 foot stone archway.
Those with mobility issues might prefer to stay somewhere with easier access to the town, but if you’re fit and open for an authentic Indian experience, this is a great place to kick back on the rooftop terrace, enjoy a meal, and take in the incredible city and country views.
Romantic doesn’t begin to cover it. The surroundings are also pretty spectacular: the rolling Aravali hills, the town of Bundi with its vivid blue houses, and the lake down below. The views are best enjoyed from the lovely roof terrace where meals are served.
The Rooms
Seven rooms are modern and tastefully decorated, although some of them are smaller and dark. All of them are air-conditioned with comfortable beds and decent bathrooms.
The service is very laidback and friendly and the food is delicious. Bundi itself is much less visited than places such as Jaipur and Jodhpur and in the eyes of many experienced India travellers, all the better for it.
