Wildlife Lovers
Luxury tents tucked among granite outcrops in the Aravalli foothills, where leopards roam the rocks and the nights are full of stars.
Sujan Jawai is a truly special glamping experience in rural Rajasthan, and one of the most rewarding places in India to look for leopards. It strikes a lovely balance between wildlife adventure and properly relaxing downtime.
Just imagine sipping a drink by the campfire as the hills turn gold at sunset…
This is wild, rugged country. The Aravalli Hills rise all around the camp, and the nearby Jawai Dam reservoir draws a wonderful variety of birdlife.
Days start early with a jeep safari at sunrise, tracking the leopards that live among the rocky hills. You can also head out on foot with a Rabari herdsman, whose semi-nomadic community has shared this landscape with the big cats for generations.
Back at camp, the spa tent is the perfect place to unwind. Meals are organic and locally sourced, and the team love to mix up the setting: breakfast out in the wild, a picnic lunch in the bush and dinner under the stars.
All in all, Sujan Jawai is a brilliant, luxurious escape and a real highlight of any trip through Rajasthan.
The Rooms
The tents are spacious and elegant, furnished with pieces by the designer Michael Aram alongside traditional touches.
Each has its own private deck looking out over the landscape, plus an en-suite bathroom.
There’s no air-conditioning, but that’s rarely missed. The camp welcomes guests in the cooler months, when evenings and nights in Rajasthan can be chilly.
