Set in Thalpe, just along the coast from Galle, Ishq Villa is a spacious, light-filled private villa for families or small groups who want the south coast done properly.
The design is open and modern, catching the sea breeze through the gardens that stretch out towards the ocean, and the overall feel is relaxed luxury: unhurried, well-staffed and very comfortable.
Families with young children should note that the pool area is open rather than enclosed.
The pool sits at the heart of it all, with a poolside dining table large enough for twelve and a chef who will cook whatever you want — Sri Lankan, western, or somewhere in between. The food is good enough that full board is worth considering over breakfast-only. The beach is directly outside, though the sea here can be rough for swimming; Dalawella Beach and Wijaya Beach Club are both a short tuk-tuk ride away and easily worth the trip.
Twelve staff are included in your stay, among them a butler, chef and housekeeping team. The butler is a particularly useful resource — equally happy arranging a bike ride through the surrounding countryside as organising an afternoon at Galle Fort. Yoga instructors, fitness trainers and spa therapists can all be arranged separately for those who want to go further.

The villa has just 5 suites with a contemporary, coastal feel that sits naturally in the setting.
Each has a king-sized bed, a private garden patio and a beautiful bathroom with both indoor and outdoor rainwater showers.
The master suite adds a jacuzzi and views across the garden to the ocean.
