A Different Side of Rajasthan
An incredible journey; covering the famous sights but also exploring the Rajasthani countryside, wilderness and wildlife.
Shahpura Bagh is an oasis of calm in rural Rajasthan. This 120-year-old family-run estate sits on 30 acres of verdant grounds and is surrounded by lovely lakes. It’s an intimate yet high-end retreat and there’s plenty to see and do while you’re here, unless of course, you’d rather do nothing at all (and relax by the glorious pool).
This region of Rajasthan – between Udaipur and Jaipur – is a magnificent mix of golden desert, green expanse, and shimmering waters. Rajadhiraja Nahar Singh created the lakes to bring prosperity to the land, which has resulted in wonderful wetlands, thick forests, and thriving farming estates. You can take a boat out on the lake (spotting rare birds as you go), explore the forts and temples, or picnic in the countryside. Back at the hotel, cool off in the enormous pool or unwind during a yoga session before dining on the candlelit terrace.
There are 11 luxury suites spread over three bright and spacious residences on the grounds. The design approach is clean and simple, full of natural light, and incredibly tasteful – without missing any luxurious touches (think crisp white linen, plumped-up pillows and rose petal baths).
We know you'll love the warm and welcoming vibe here. Staying at this idyll is one of the best ways to get under the skin of rural Rajasthan – and to enjoy some respite from its chaotic cities.
Deluxe - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.
