Info : Raffles Royal, Phnom Penh

Raffles Le Royal is one of Phnom Penhs oldest hotel establishments and a local landmark. Having first opened its doors in 1929, it has a long, fascinating and illustrious history. Located in the city centre, it has been beautifully restored to beyond its former glory.

Reopening in 1997 as the Raffles Hotel Le Royal, it still sets the standards other hotels try to follow. A grand and intricate fusion of French and Khmer architecture, fine interior design and first-rate service give this hotel the edge. Few properties manage to so effectively blend old world charm with modern amenities.

The 170 rooms, suites and apartments are split into two wings. Sumptuously furnished and art deco in style, they are perhaps the most comfortable and stylish in the city. Split into numerous categories and varying greatly in size, they are consistent in quality and style. From the Landmark Room right up to the Le Royal Suite, you feel privileged to stay here.

The hotels Amrita Spa offers massages, therapies and treatments from around the world. There are two great swimming pools which are well sheltered and are the ideal place to cool off from the citys heat. Additional facilities include an excellent business centre and beautifully landscaped gardens.

Dining and drinking are some of the hotels selling points, with a great selection of restaurants, cocktail bars and cafes. The Cafe Monivong and Restaurant Le Royal offer some of the finest and most atmospheric dining experiences available in Phnom Penh.

The hotel makes a great base for exploring the citys attractions and markets.

The Raffles Hotel Le Royal is one of the top places to stay in Phnom Penh.

Luxury - Luxury hotels would have a superb level of service, very comfortable and usually spacious bedrooms, excellent food, great design and character. For us, when we visited, these places all had the 'wow factor'. A luxury hotel should satisfy the criteria of the most discerning clients.

Guest Comments for Raffles Royal, Phnom Penh

Fantastic! The staff in the Royal Restaurant were charming and we ended up chatting for ages, pool staff so attentive but just couldn't allow anyone to clean my sunglasses for me!

Customer Feedback
Both our guides, in Cambodia were excellent. However, I would like to nominate Channak for an award because we felt he gave an outstanding level of service, showing us things that weren't on the itinerary which we would never have found by ourselves and going out of his way to do so. His general sociability and ability to talk to local people, including more reserved tribal people, meant that we had a much greater insight into the community than we expected and we felt privileged to be there with him. He also has personal experience (from childhood) of the Khmer Rouge regime which made our visits to Toul Sleng and Choeung Ek in particular even more poignant than they would have been otherwise.
