A small homely guest house on the island of Huraa, Cool Trip is a relaxing place to stay for those wanting insight into Maldivian culture.
Cool Trip is the venture of a group of locals who work with resorts extensively, they have come together and set up this comfortable guesthouse and offer some unique experiences to visitors. The building itself is close to the bikini-friendly beach and just a stone throw away from the local beach. The staff are very accommodating and are keen to practice their English.
Rooms are a good size with AC and ensuite facilities. Meals are taken in a small kitchen which is very typical of local home and so provides particular insight into daily life. The food is absolutely delicious and there is a TV available to watch in the sitting room/ entrance area. Do indulge in some Maldivian Pop Idol if you have a chance, they sing a lot of beautiful traditional songs.
All in all, this is a comfortable and insightful place to stay on Huraa Island.
Homestay - What we mean by 'Homestay' is generally a large family owned house, still occupied by at least some members of the family. Interaction with guests is encouraged and is in fact unlikely to be avoided! These places always have bags of character are usually highly charming and can provide a fascinating shortcut towards understanding local life a little better. Facilities can range from the luxurious, to pretty basic and meals are generally taken as a group and served in the local style rather than from a menu. The service is almost always fairly quirky and idiosyncratic. Great fun.
