Small and intimate, Komandoo is the ideal island for those dreaming of an island escape. Only 500 meters long and 100 meters wide, this island resort is explicitly designed with relaxation in mind.
Children are not allowed, and facilities are limited compared to some islands; you come here, to escape, to relax, and to dive or snorkel. The emphasis is on the individual. Though there is a bar for pleasant evening drinks, those looking for nightlife should look elsewhere.
There are three room types here. The Beach Villas and Jacuzzi Beach Villas offer great value for money, a wooden design and decking leading directly onto the beach, with the Jacuzzi and partly open bathroom a feature of the rooms.
The Water Villas at Komandoo are the top category, with a lovely teak wood finish, a large living area and a wooden sun deck looking south over the Indian Ocean. They also have flat-screen televisions, a home cinema system and are incredibly spacious.
The dive centre has a good reputation, and the island has a house reef with excellent marine life for snorkelers.
Great value and highly recommended.
Deluxe - This is our first really 'upmarket' category. It might be a beautiful tiny hotel with very limited facilities or a 5* resort hotel with all the trimmings; but any hotel in this category will be a well-run establishment with very comfortable rooms, a strong service ethos and excellent food.
