Olhuveli Beach & Spa Resort, South Male Atoll

Olhuveli is a superb value 4* resort nestled quietly in South Male Atoll. This gives it a feeling of remoteness and peace while remaining a comfortable twenty-minute speedboat ride away from the international airport at Male.

Unusually for the Maldives, there is quite a range in the types of accommodation at Olhuveli. The over-water villas, as well as the Jacuzzi and Presidential Water Villa's, are of a high standard providing privacy, peace and space. The next level has the deluxe beach bungalows, which again are very sizable, luxurious and private, opening out onto the beach. At the lower end are the double-storey deluxe rooms, which although much smaller, are comfortable and good value, as 12 of them are interconnecting these provide a great space for families.

The food options are good, though not extensive. There is a large and attractive main restaurant, which offers European, Asian and Japanese buffets and has fantastic views. There is also an a la carte restaurant and three bars. The food is generally a very good standard, and the service is excellent friendly and unobtrusive.

Within easy reach of Olhuveli are some of the best dive sites in the Maldives. Furthermore, the island has an excellent house reef too. There is a great range of sports facilities here, including tennis and badminton, as well as a spa and a full complement of water-sports, which get updated annually.

While a large resort, the atmosphere is friendly and sociable, with plenty going on to entertain both adults and children.
