The Mango Bay Resort is a favourite of Experience Travel. Located on the rugged and remote northern shores of Phu Quoc Island (a 1-hour flight from Saigon), the resort occupies a large piece of pristine land with wide beach frontage, rocky outcrops, towering trees and windswept gardens. Guests feel they have stumbled upon a secret beach!
The butterfly and orchid gardens, palm trees and vines surrounding the bungalows give a real jungle-feel to Mango Bay Phu Quoc, and friendly service welcomes you to this unique corner of Vietnam. The peace, tranquillity and natural beauty combine to create one of the best getaways in Vietnam.
Accommodation at Mango Bay Phu Quoc is wooden bungalows and fired earth cottages. These vary in shape and size, but all have the same in-room amenities. Most have outdoor bathrooms with solar-powered hot water. The bungalows are spacious with large shutters on three sides and a big veranda area with daybeds. The rooms are furnished in a very minimal fashion with beds, mosquito nets and fans and a beach-hut theme throughout the decor. Total relaxation is the theme, and with so much space and natural beauty, it is hard not to be seduced. Two-bedroom options are available and are excellent for families.
Mango Bay Phu Quoc is proud of its eco-friendly credentials and has been built in harmony with the surrounding environment. While rooms have electricity there is no TV, A/C or kettle and instead hot and cold water are provided in flasks every day. Staff are happy to cater to your needs too, and cool boxes are provided in the room for you to take some cool beers to the beach with you.
Mango Bay Phu Quoc has a restaurant and lounge bar overlooking the sea, plus an additional beach bar. A variety of tasty dishes are freshly prepared by the friendly staff, and the BBQ at the beach bar comes highly recommended. There are several games, and the resort's activity centre offers a few excursions in the local area as well as boat trips and snorkelling.
For natural beauty, privacy and calm few places can challenge Mango Bay Phu Quoc. This resort is certainly not for everyone due to the outdoor nature of accommodation, but for those looking to appreciate the simple things in life and lose track of time the hotel comes highly recommended.
Eco/Adventure - This category covers gorgeous lodges in the jungle, comfortable safari camps and dreamy, but simple, beach cabanas. These places defy conventional categorisation: what is communing with nature to one person may be terrifying bugs to another! Many of these places are very comfortable and the service generally of a very high level - but please read the website review carefully and/or talk to us and be sure to have understood what you are letting yourselves in for!
