“For a quieter alternative to Ha Long Bay, try Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. It’s like drifting through a film set: all limestone karsts and winding rivers. With far fewer crowds.”

The Best Times to Go on a Holiday in Vietnam

Working out the best time to visit Vietnam can be a little tricky. It’s a long, slim country with dramatically varied weather from top to bottom. But the good news? There’s almost always somewhere with great conditions.

November to April is the most consistently dry and settled season across the country. It’s ideal for cultural travel, sunshine, and beach time in the south. In the north, expect clear skies and cooler air, especially in the mountains.

May to August brings hot, sunny weather to the central coast, making places like Hoi An and Nha Trang perfect for a summer beach break. Further north and south, rains are more common but often come in short, sharp bursts, with plenty of dry spells in between.

September and October tend to be the wettest months. Central regions see the heaviest rains and typhoons, while the north starts to dry out. By late October, conditions are already improving.

In Our Traveller’s Words

An Epic Adventure Across Southeast Asia

There were moments while I was out and about where I thought that everyone should experience this kind of mindful travel that Experience Travel organises, as it's not backpacking where you tick off the standard party hotspots, and it's not the typical cruise for tourists to visit the standard sightseeing destinations, but an experience where I really felt I got to know the countries, meet great people and do fun stuff that most people miss.

Cultural Discovery from Vietnam to Cambodia

We had a fantastic experience from booking the trip to enjoying it when the time came. I was very excited for our children to learn about different cultures, foods and see how people live in different countries. Our trip ticked every box and more and would highly recommend traveling from Vietnam to Cambodia to anyone that loves to explore.

Unforgettable Vietnam Memories

From the moment we landed in Vietnam to the second we left, we made magical family memories. We left some of our hearts in Vietnam. The people, the culture and the experiences ETG pulled together made our whole experience unforgettable. They took care of everything. Listened to what we like in a holiday, encouraged us to think broadly, and surpassed all expectations with their local relationships and ensured we were looked after.

The Best Experiences in Vietnam

A classic ETG Vietnam journey is about connecting with the spirit of the place. You might meander through Hanoi’s Old Quarter with a foodie guide, hike through rice terraces in Sapa, or cruise Lan Ha Bay in a boutique junk. Take a local train through the highlands, explore ancient citadels, or unwind on a stretch of coast where time moves slower. Add in immersive market tours, slow cooking classes, and warm conversations with local hosts, and you’ve got a holiday that lingers long after you return home.
