Info : Helicopter Trip Over Angkor
Hovering in the skies above Angkor Wat and the surrounding myriad of ancient temples provides a different perspective on the size, scale and beauty of the ancient Khmer empire and their incredible creations. A two hour flight enables you to see temples that would take days to cover by ground. Flights operate year round and departure times can be scheduled to suit individual needs, whether it is to see sunrise over Angkor Wat or sunset from the Bayon. A range of journeys are also offered, from a simple eight minute flight to a two and a half hour trip taking in the entire complex of temples from Angkor to those bordering Thailand, Laos and the vast Thonle Sap Lake.
The best treat is arguably the temple of Preah Vihear perched on a mountain on the Thai border which many consider the most impressive of all Angkorian temples, although it requires a longer flight.
Flights start from around $75 dollars per person for the eight minute flight and go up from there. The longer flights offer better value for money. Flights are operated by Helicopters Cambodia - a highly reputable and experienced company from New Zealand with an impeccable safety record.
Please note we do not book the balloon which operates at Angkor as we are not satisfied with the way the operation is run. If you are interested in getting an aerial perspective of Angkor, the helicopter is our strong recommendation.
Of course Angkor Wat and temples are out of this world and Nokia our young guide was very informative and considerate enough to find us shade occasionally and to rest. He was the youngest in a rice farming family, longing to find himself a lady to settle down.
