Most people come to Borneo for the wildlife. But a well-designed trip rarely ends in the jungle.
Malaysian Borneo has a coastline that’s often overlooked, yet works brilliantly as the final stretch of a Borneo journey.
After a thrilling adventure in the rainforest, a few nights by the sea offers exactly the contrast you want. Think small island retreats, gin-clear water and quiet beaches; the perfect way to slow the pace before heading home.

“After the thrill of the jungle, there’s real magic in winding down on a beach. Snorkelling in clear water, then melting into the sand.”

The Best Times to Go on a Holiday in Borneo
March to October is the best time for a beach holiday in Borneo. The west coast enjoys dry, sunny days and calm waters between April and July, with great visibility for snorkelling and diving.
If you’re visiting for both wildlife and the coast, May or September offers the ideal blend. Clear skies, fewer visitors and excellent wildlife sightings. The rainy season runs from November to February, so we tend to avoid beach-heavy itineraries at that time unless paired with other parts of Southeast Asia.
