Day 1

Your adventure begins

It’s time to step away from your everyday, and catch your flight to Colombo.

Days 2 - 3

Negombo

Your chauffeur-guide will welcome you to Sri Lanka and whisk you to your first hotel. Settle into a converted ancestral manor house for a gentle introduction to the country. Wander the tropical gardens, take a dip in the pool, or simply adjust to island time over long, leisurely meals in the open-air restaurant. The food here is exceptional.

Days 4 - 6

Cultural Triangle

Next up, you’ll hop in your chauffeur-guide’s car to go to Ulagalla, a refined retreat in the heart of the Cultural Triangle.

Set within acres of forest and home to just 25 private villas, it gives you rare space and stillness between visits to the region’s great ancient sites. We schedule your climb of Sigiriya at first light, when the rock is at its most atmospheric and the crowds have yet to build. Later, explore the countryside by bike or tuk-tuk, before ending on the water at a quiet, secret spot with local snacks served as you look back towards Pidurangala and Sigiriya in the fading light.

Days 7 - 8

Kandy

Head south towards the hills, pausing to explore Kandy en route. A guided walk reveals the city’s layered history and lively food culture, from fruit markets to roadside bakeries. Visit the Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya, then continue by tuk-tuk to Suriyakantha, a 200-year-old heritage home where your host introduces its eclectic collection.

Stay at Adigar’s Manor, a restored aristocratic house just outside the city, offering a calm base for exploring or unwinding.

Days 9 - 11

Tea Country

Travel by train into Sri Lanka’s mountainous interior, a three-hour journey through climbing hills and tea estates, before arriving at Ceylon Tea Trails.

One of just a handful of lovingly restored tea plantation bungalows set around Castlereagh Lake, it remains the benchmark for estate living in Sri Lanka, with private butler service and expansive views across the reservoir.

A visit to the working tea factory is included, offering a close-up look at the craft behind the island’s most famous export, before returning for high tea and evening drinks by the lake. During your stay, walk sections of the Pekoe Trail, hike towards Adam’s Peak, raft the Kelani River or cycle through the surrounding estates.

Days 12 - 13

Galle

Continue south to the historic town of Galle and its 17th-century Dutch Fort.

You’ll stay within the Fort’s ramparts at Amangalla, arguably the most storied and established address.

From here, explore the Fort on foot with a private local guide who brings its layered history to life. Beyond the ramparts and lighthouse, we arrange introductions and encounters that reveal the Fort’s living culture today, from long-established families to the contemporary makers and restaurateurs shaping its next chapter.

Day 14 - 16

Tangalle

Your final leg takes you to the south coast near Tangalle and the clean-lined calm of Amanwella. Set above a pristine crescent of sand, its 30 contemporary suites each come with a private pool and wide views over the ocean.

Days here are deliberately unstructured so you can make the most of this fabulous beach retreat.

Swim, read by the pool, walk the quiet beach, or simply retreat to your terrace and let the coast set the pace. This is time to slow down completely, ending your journey with space, privacy and the sound of the sea.

Day 17

Fly home

Today, it’s time to say goodbye to Sri Lanka.

You’ll be picked up from the hotel and taken to nearby Koggala airport to board a private Air Taxi to Colombo. Flying low along the coast, you’ll see the Indian Ocean stretching out on one side and the island’s hills rising on the other, a final glimpse of the landscapes you’ve come to know.

Land at Colombo and check-in for your return flight.

What’s included:

With ETG, what’s included is shaped around ease. We take care of the practical details that can distract from the experience itself, so you’re free to relax into the journey and enjoy it as it unfolds.

Here’s what comes as standard in all of our holidays:

All flights (unless you’ve booked your own)
Carefully selected guides and drivers
All accommodation
Many meals and snacks
Immersive experiences throughout
All regional transport
Gratuities
24/7 In-Country support
Personal travel consultant throughout

Pricing:

Each journey is shaped around you, so costs vary depending on season, flight choices, accommodation and how much is built in.

As a guide, most of our two-week trips fall between £5,000 and £10,000 per person.

Some fall below that, particularly for families or travel outside peak periods. Others go beyond it when the brief includes business-class flights, longer stays, or more ambitious hotel choices.

We discuss budget early, so everything is clear from the start.
