Ulagalla Resort

Ulagalla is the perfect base from which to explore the ‘Cultural Triangle’, and is so much more than just a place to sleep. It’s a one-of-a-kind luxury hotel with a genuine commitment to sustainable practices, surrounded by 58 acres of untamed forest, reservoirs and paddy fields. Simply beautiful.
Ulagalla is the perfect place to come home to after exploring the Cultural Triangle. It’s close to Anuradhapura, and you can reach other sites like Sigiriya on day trips, too. Also, since it’s located a little further north than many other hotels in this region, you can fit in a day trip to Wilpattu National Park if you fancy getting your fix of wildlife.
This hotel’s soaring lobby and atmospheric restaurant both sit within a wonderfully restored ‘walawwa’ (ancestral mansion) overlooking a vast swimming pool shaded by fragrant frangipani trees.
Food is bound to be a highlight of your stay here.
We still dream of their breakfast hoppers and the team of highly qualified chefs can whip up gourmet cuisine with ease.
We highly recommend taking the cooking class – using ingredients plucked straight from the hotel’s organic garden – and enjoying a genuinely authentic Kamatha dinner.
You can also go horse riding, kayaking or hiking (or even try your hand at archery!) during your time at Ulagalla.
The Rooms
The resort features 25 spacious villas, each with a private plunge pool and panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Villas are elegantly furnished, combining traditional Sri Lankan architecture with contemporary amenities. Guests can expect king-sized beds, luxurious bathrooms, and private terraces, ensuring a comfortable and secluded stay.
