Sri Lanka, Hill Country
Lunch at a Social Enterprise Restaurant
As part of our “One Meal At A Time” initiative, we’ve partnered with social enterprise restaurants across Asia to bring travellers a deeper connection to their destination.
In Sri Lanka’s hill country, near Bandarawela, we support a hospitality school that trains marginalised young people in cooking, service and life skills.
Meals here are lovingly prepared and thoughtfully presented, with traditional Sri Lankan flavours front and centre. More than just a good lunch, this stop provides a platform for cultural exchange—giving you the chance to chat with trainees, learn about their experiences and hear stories of transformation.
We typically include this visit during longer walks or experiences in the area, such as trekking Section 16 of the Pekoe Trail. Whether you’re refuelling after a hike or simply exploring the region by car, this is a wonderful way to enjoy warm hospitality while making a positive local impact.
