Explore the beach-fringed island of Bali taking in its culture and natural beauty beyond the well-trodden path.
Tugu Bali is a very unique place. Part art gallery, part antique collection and all comfort; it is located amidst lush gardens in one of the south coast’s quietest beach areas at Canggu.
Canggu itself is a small village with an excellent surf beach located half way between bustling Seminyak and the famous Tanah Lot Temple. The location is perfect for visitors who want peace and quiet in a more traditional Balinese village without being too far from the action.
Tugu is like no other resort we’ve ever seen. Everything about it is unique including the communal areas and each individual room. Rooms were designed from scratch by the owner and each contains a collection of art and antiques'. Some rooms pay tribute to artisans associated with Indonesia over the years. As each room is quite distinct we recommend discussing the options with your travel consultant prior to booking.
Indonesian heritage is not only a design theme but is fundamental to the whole ethos of the resort. During your stay you can learn to cook Indonesian style, practice yoga or enjoy a spa treatment based around Indonesian traditions. Dining here is an experience in itself and the menu has been expertly crafted to demonstrate the complexity of Indonesian spices.
It is quite difficult to categorise the standard of Tugu in the usual sense, though it is certainly intended to be a high end resort and has the comforts and service you would expect at that level (including a swimming pool). In the same way that a home full of antiques is not to everyone’s taste, Tugu Bali will not appeal to all. For those who prefer sleek modern design and clean lines the resort might feel a little cluttered and we suggest looking elsewhere. However if you like art and antiques and enjoy quirkiness, then Tugu Bali is about as unique as you’re likely to find anywhere in the world!
Luxury - Luxury hotels would have a superb level of service, very comfortable and usually spacious bedrooms, excellent food, great design and character. For us, when we visited, these places all had the 'wow factor'. A luxury hotel should satisfy the criteria of the most discerning clients.
